Two Night Stay at a Holiday Inn

Was given this as a gift and. had to upgrade when we checked what was available. Chose this as most of the other hotels on offer were really poor in Yorkshire. Cant say it was good value when I add what our friends paid for the voucher to the money we had to add. Hotel was OK with plenty of parking. Standard Holiday inn corporate hotel with grounds and Bar etc. Two pubs opposite that were OK but TBH the hotel bar was about the same price. 5 mins in a taxi to the centre of York about £7 or there is a bus stop outside. Breakfast was poor on the first day as things weren't being replenished so no egg, bacon, glasses, cups etc tables not laid or cleared and it wasn't particularly warm either. Day 2 was better as the Hotel was much quieter. Room wasn't serviced when we went out for the day so had to ask at reception for all the usual stuff to be replenished. Noticed when we were checking the room as we left that under the beds hadn't been cleaned as there were cola bottles and rubbish from previous occupants. Would stay elsewhere if I went back to York and couldn't recommend these buyagift vouchers as you end up paying much more than if you booked elsewhere
