The venue is fascinating, the teaching is appropriate for someone new to blacksmithing, and the staff are kind, informative, and amusing. I had a holiday I will never forget, and spent time with people I will remember fondly. I left on Friday afternoon, so happy to have spent 3 days with my co-noob blacksmiths and to have met and shared the experience with such a fab team. Having never made anything like this before, I found the course easy to follow. It was technically and physically challenging at times, but nothing that I could not handle. The result was my very own sword, which I love to bits. Particular shout-out to William for his acceptance of people from all walks of life and all skill levels, helping out where needed without taking over the creative process - I particularly loved that he made sure that every one of us got to the finishing line with a serviceable sword. Shout also to Chrissy, whose historical knowledge about swords was terrific, her help with some of the more tricky technical stuff was spot on, and her delight in her job and the craft was plain to see. Collectively, everyone's evident passion was inspiring. I would recommend this course and indeed would love to do it again myself.

Really good day at the forge. Knowledgeable and friendly instructor took the group through making a basic knife step by step. Hard work but we’ll worth it.

Just what I wanted, I learnt so much.

This was a long term dream and I could not be happier. It was a hard three days shaping the sword but came out of it with something to be proud off. The staff were brilliant, guiding when needed and giving a helping hand here and there when needed. Would 100% recommend this experience.

Changed the day to an axe making workshop. Had a great day with a good group of people. Would definitely visit again. Learnt something new and was surprised at how hard it was to mould the metal. William was great, helpful and encouraging to all. Would definitely visit again for another workshop.
