We went to Cartahegna, Murcia, Spain. Unbeknown to us it was fiesta. Fabulous, parades, mock battles ( between the Carthagenians and Romans) costumes were amazing, and live music and great food in several parks. Took the open top bus tour, 6 euro or 5 euro for pensioners. Audio in English, Spanish, French or German. The Roman Theatre and Museum was a great experience too, also only 5 euros. Bars were do great offers 2 small beers and 2 tapas for 4 euros. The hotel was good, although, initially, felt unsure of location, but there was a bus that took you to the port for 1.20 euro each and ran every 15 minutes. Stopped at midnight but taxis available and only 7 euro to hotel. There was also free parking, we travelled there by car. The breakfast were very Spanish, coffee, fresh orange, toast with tomato plus ham if wanted, croissants or cakes, A litre of water was only a euro!! There was a fridge in the room and a supermarket opposite so if you wanted a snack in your room you could buy it and put stuff in fridge. The rooms were exceptionally clean and made up every day. Not a great view but we only wanted somewhere to sleep. There is only one beach, playa cortina, which is a bus ride away. Clean sand, clear water and a bar/ cafeteria. Worth a visit. The port area was undergoing some restoration, quite a few bars and restaurants not open. There are also boat trips available and you can get off at the Christmas Fort and reboard later. We had a great time and wished we were there longer.
